Sr. Analyst, Reporting & Analytics
Irvine, CA Temporary $50.00 - $70.00/hr Hybrid

Job Description

Sr. Analyst, Reporting & Analytics (Contract) - $50-70/hr

About the Role

We are looking for a Sr. Analyst, Finance to join our FP&A team. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone who takes pride in two things above all else: accuracy and presentation quality. You will own a broad portfolio of recurring financial reports and ad hoc analyses, and your work product will routinely reach executive and Board-level audiences; so it needs to be right and it needs to look right, every time.

This role is ideal for a contractor who can come in, ramp up quickly, and deliver polished outputs with minimal oversight. If you are the kind of person who notices a misaligned column or an inconsistent font before anyone else does, we want to hear from you.

Let's talk about some of the key responsibilities of the role:

  • Run and own the full suite of recurring financial reports: weekly, monthly, and quarterly, delivering accurate, consistently formatted outputs on time, every time.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses using Excel, translating raw data into clean, clearly structured deliverables ready for executive review.
  • Prepare budget vs. actual variance analyses with concise commentary on key drivers and trends.
  • Build and maintain Excel-based reporting tools and templates; document processes so work is repeatable and scalable.
  • Support Annual Plan and quarterly forecast consolidation, including data pulls, model updates, and output formatting.
  • Produce PowerPoint materials for Executive Team and Board of Directors meetings formatting, layout, and visual consistency are part of the job, not an afterthought.
  • Collaborate with Finance team members to streamline data workflows and reporting, including work in Adaptive Planning and NetSuite as needed.

What We're Looking For

Excel Expertise - This is the #1 requirement.

  • Advanced Excel skills are required: complex formulas, nested logic, pivot tables, dynamic arrays, Power Query, and clean model architecture.
  • You should be able to build a reporting template from scratch, audit someone else's model quickly, and know how to structure a workbook so others can use it without a manual.

Accuracy & Attention to Detail - A critical foundation for this role.

  • Attention to detail is essential in this role. The ideal candidate takes pride in the quality of their work, validates outputs before sharing, and holds themselves to a high personal standard.
  • Progression from preparing simple financial models to more complex, multi-dimensional analysis is preferred; we value candidates who have grown their craft over time.

Presentation Quality - Outputs go directly to executives.

  • Formatting is part of your deliverable, not someone else's problem. Consistent fonts, aligned tables, clean layouts, and logical flow are things you do automatically.
  • Experience preparing executive-ready Excel reports and PowerPoint slides is expected. The manager should not need to reformat your work before it goes up the chain.

Background & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 4-6+ years of FP&A, financial reporting, or accounting experience. Life sciences or pharma background is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with Adaptive Planning and NetSuite preferred.
  • Basic understanding of GAAP. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

A Few Other Details Worth Mentioning:

  • This is a contract position. Duration and hours to be discussed during the interview process. High performers in this role will have the opportunity to convert to a permanent position
  • The role does not need to be local, remote candidates with strong qualifications are welcome to apply.
  • Our Irvine office is available for hybrid work if preferred, complete with a courtyard, snacks, and occasional catered meals.
  • This position reports directly to our Sr Dir, FP&A
  • We are passionate about our culture. Our Tarsans live our values of commitment to patients, empowerment to champion innovation, and teamwork to amplify impact.
